Our History
The ministry started in a humble beginning around July 1979 at the kitchen table of Elder A. J. McCoy where he made the statement that if he had a few men to work with him in this ministry then he would go forward, Bro. Stephen L. Bennefield and Bro. Marty Magee spoke up and said they would work with him. This was the start of the ministry. In two weeks there was a Bible study of 7 plus, the group stayed in the home of Pastor and Sister Lisa McCoy for about 10 months.
In January of 1980, the church was Named Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ along with its Corporate name Apostolic Ministries, Inc. In May of 1980, the ministry had its first public church service at the Bourg Building of Sandy Lake, PA. The ministry grew, bought 4 ½ acres of land for a camp meeting, and moved. During this time Pastor saw the need for advanced biblical training in his 6 core adult members who at the time, were unable to attend Bible College. The Full Gospel Bible Institute was birthed and later moved to Farrell, PA.
Pastor A. J. McCoy heard from God to start a ministry in his hometown of Farrell, PA in the Summer of 1981. New and Living Way Center of Truth was birthed in a storefront at 519 Idaho then a few years later sold the 4 ½ acres to purchase the building from Mark Music Store on 705 Idaho and made this the church home of NLWCT.In the late fall of 1992 under the direction of Pastor Bishop A. J. McCoy the church purchased the Church building from the New Age Church on 927 Lee Ave. The church's name was changed to New and Living Way Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ and Lee Ave became the Headquarters of Apostolic Ministries Inc. Apostolic Ministries Inc. purchased land around the Lee Ave building and in 2013 Chief Apostle A. J. McCoy expressed the vision to build a new sanctuary and outreach facility. The Lord redirected the vision in January of 2014 to the purchasing of the Jewish Temple in Sharon, PA. On Thursday, February 20, 2014, the closing took place and keys were given to Apostolic Ministries Inc. and New and Living Way Church of Jesus Christ. The Name of the church has changed to Greater New and Living Way Temple of the Apostolic Faith, this building has everything that the Church and Headquarters need. We can truly say “THE VISION HAS COME TO PASS BUT THE VISION IS SPEAKING”.
